TLC star Trent Johnston is mourning the loss of his father.

The 7 Little Johnstons star shared a sweet throwback photo on Instagram on Wednesday, April 3, three weeks after announcing that his dad, known as Poppy on the series, had passed away at the age of 90.

The emotional snap found Trent as a young boy, sleeping with his head propped on a fluffy white pillow. Next to him and slightly lower on the bed slept Poppy, Trent’s foot thrown across his dad’s back and his arm slid under his head.

He left the image captionless, but it spoke for itself as fans flooded the comments with their condolences for his loss and period of grief.

On March 12, Trent took to Facebook to share the devastating loss with viewers, thanking them for their “out pouring of love, prayers, and support” at the time.

A few months prior, over 100 members of their community came together to celebrate his 90th birthday, an opportunity the family is now “forever grateful” for.

Poppy wasn’t a featured member of the family on the reality series, though Trent made sure he was well-known and well-loved by consistently honoring him on social media.

His health had been declining for several years, using a wheelchair in recent years and relying on Trent’s mother for assistance with his daily tasks. “He was tired and at peace within,” Trent added, before sharing funeral arrangements with fans.

As the reality star continues to mourn, fans are showering him and his family with love.

“sending you all strength during this difficult time 💔💙,” one wrote, while another offered “prayers for peace and grace.”
