Amanda had reportedly had weight loss surgery for the first time in 2014, much before the family started filming 1000-Lb Sisters. Fans had criticized Amanda when she wished to undergo the surgery again. She could have consistently eaten healthily and worked out to get her desired results and there was always the possibility of the surgery not working out the same way the first one didn’t. Amanda still went ahead and had a second gastric bypass surgery in 2023.
The surgery was risky since Amanda had a terrible habit. She was so determined to lose weight that she gave up smoking.
Amy had also asked Dr. Proctor if she could get a “re-do” after having her second baby. The surgery was going to come with its own set of risks, but Amy wanted to look slim by taking the fastest way out. Amy had chosen to get pregnant twice immediately after her first surgery even when she was advised not to conceive so soon by her doctor. While the sisters look fantastic in their new slim and trim versions, they see surgery as something they could use to lose weight again without having to bother about maintaining a diet. This could certainly take a toll on Amy and Amanda’s bodies in the long run.
